RECORD-BREAKING SUMMER FOR THE RAIL LINK TO BARI “KAROL WOJTYLA” AIRPORT: PASSENGER NUMBERS UP 14.5% COMPARED TO 2024

Bari, October 31, 2025 – The summer 2025 season closed with record results for the rail connection to and from Bari Karol Wojtyla International Airport, which saw a 14.5% increase in passengers compared to the same period in 2024.

The figures confirm the steady rise in demand for sustainable transport and passengers’ growing appreciation for a fast, convenient and well-integrated service connecting directly with arriving and departing flights at Bari Airport.

From January to September 2025, the number of travelers choosing the train to reach the airport rose by 18.2% year-on-year, further strengthening a consistent upward trend that underscores the increasingly strategic role of the rail link within Apulia’s transport network.

This performance reflects the strong and continuing growth of tourism in Apulia, a region that continues to shine on both the national and international stage for its appeal, hospitality, and natural beauty.

“These results,” said Giuseppe Pavoncelli, President and CEO of Ferrotramviaria S.p.A., “highlight how intermodality is the key to achieving sustainable development across the regional transport system. Efficient connections between the city and the airport enhance mobility for residents and tourists alike, while boosting the area’s competitiveness.”

Thanks to close cooperation with Aeroporti di Puglia, the rail service to and from Bari Airport continues to offer travelers a simple, sustainable and comfortable travel option, helping to reduce road traffic and emissions.
